  • Visa:
All visitors to Australia must have a valid visa before traveling to Australia. Conference participants from most European countries, as well as from the United States and Canada, are eligible to apply for an Electronic Travel Authority or eVisitor visas and thus the application process is rather simple. Conference participants with passports from countries that are not eligible for an ETA or eVisitor visa will have to submit a paper-based application for a visa. Paper based visa applications will require a letter from the conference organizers, please indicate if you will need such a letter when you register or email us at kasc6-at-physics.usyd.edu.au. More information and visa applications are available from the Department of Immigration and Citizenship , a list of countries eligible for an ETA or eVisitor visa is available here. For paper based visa applications the Department of Immigration and Citizenship recommends that you apply for your visa at least 6-8 weeks prior to your date of departure; online applications should be done at least 2 weeks prior to departure.

    Traveling to Sydney:
Australia's location makes flying the primary method of getting to the conference, fortunately Sydney's Kingsford-Smith Airport is served by most major airlines. Due to the length of flights to Australia, jet lag is an issue and we encourage you to take that into account when scheduling your flights.

The easiest way to get from the airport to the conference venue is by taxi which will cost approximately $30 AUD. Alternatively there is a train that runs from the airport to the city at a cost of $16.20 AUD per person. Follow the signs in the terminal to the train. Take the train towards the city and get off at the Central Station stop, from Central it is only a 3 block walk to Novotel Sydney Central.
